DMV Permit Requirements
You must be 15 1/2 years old
An original or certified copy of U.S birth certificate, passport or green card
Social Security Number (SSN)
Completion of Driver Education Certificate (pink or blue slip)
A parent of a legal guardian must sign below the "Acknowledgement Statement" on the
Completetion of Driver Education certificate form before you go to the DMV
Complete the DMV application (DL44)
Your parent's or legal guardian's signature is required on the DMV application (DL44)

Pass your vision test
Pass the DMV permit test
DMV Driver License Requirements
You must be 16 years old
Hold your permit for at least 6 months
You must call to make an appointment for the DMV driving test
You must have completed at least 50 hours of supervised driving with your parent or legal guardian (10 hours must be driving at night)
Completion of 6 hours behind the wheel training with a Driving School (the gold certificate)
Pass the DMV driving test to obtain your California Driver License
